BIOGRAPHY

Mezzo-soprano Katie Ahmann earned her Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music (SFCM) in 2021. In 2019, she graduated with her Bachelor of Music from the conservatory and was awarded the Dean's Award of Achievement as the Undergraduate Valedictorian. 

 

Her musical journey took off with a first place finish in the American Protégé International Competition and award recital at Carnegie Hall. A two-time National Young Arts Winner, Katie made her radio debut on KDFC in 2021, performing Miss Pinkerton in Menotti's Old Maid and the Thief. In her European debut at the Vienna Summer Music Festival, she portrayed the title role in the world premiere of Michael Polo's opera PlutoShe has appeared on the Bloomington Summer Opera Workshop stage as Despina in Così fan tutte and on the Austin Summer Opera Workshop stage as Papagena in Die Zauberflöte. Other roles include the Queen in the Angels Vocal Arts production of Bernstein’s Candide, Turnspit in the Toronto Summer Opera Workshop production of Dvorak’s Rusalka, First Bridesmaid in SFCM's production of Le Nozze di Figaro, and Suor Lucilla in SFCM's production of Suor Angelica

 

A member of SFCM's Musical Theater Ensemble from 2016 to 2021, Katie played the lead role of Luisa in The Fantasticks in 2019 and Little Red Riding Hood in Into the Woods in 2020. Katie also served as a German tutor at the conservatory from 2018-2021 and an Italian tutor from 2018-2019. She now lives in Los Angeles where she is working as an actress in the Theatrical and Commercial Industry.
